Northern Star : Authentic and unique Finnish sauna experiences

The Sauna Addict Summer 2026

This summer five-day journey is for those who want to understand what sauna really means in Finland, not as a luxury, but as a way of life.

Each day brings a new sauna experience: floating on a raft, hidden on an island, designed by architects, or kept alive by generations of locals.
Between the heat, there is time. To slow down. To ask questions. To feel the rhythm of a culture where warmth is more than temperature.

This is not a tour with extras. It is the sauna, from all angles.

Journey Overview

Day 01:

Arrival at Helsinki Airport. Your Northern Star guide welcomes you and leads the group to Porvoo - Finland’s second-oldest town, known for red riverside houses, cobbled streets and local food. After lunch and a short wander, the journey continues to Kotka.

In the evening, a ferry takes you to Varissaari, a historic fortress island. A floating sauna raft is waiting, wood-heated and gentle. Dinner is served at the island’s restaurant or back on the mainland.

Day 02:

Today is yours to settle. Tykkimäki Sauna welcomes you with lakeside heat, open views, and space to swim and rest.

In the afternoon, an optional visit to the Salpa Line Bunker Museum introduces the wartime forest defense tunnels. The day ends with a delicious dinner. We recommend the best options for you.

Day 03:

A morning ferry takes you to Kaunissaari, a fishing island where life still follows the wind and tides. The harbour is lined with red boathouses, and the pine forests are shaped by sea air. Hike, rest, visit local artisans, or simply pause by the water.

In the evening, a traditional sauna session is arranged. Guests may dine at a local restaurant or prepare their own seaside barbecue.

Day 04:

After breakfast, the group returns to the mainland and travels to Helsinki. Check-in at the Nordic Home-like Boutique Hotel F6.

In the evening, a short ferry leads to Lonna Island. A pair of loft-style, wood-fired saunas welcome you in a modern, intimate setting. Dinner is served on the island, or you may continue to Suomenlinna fortress by ferry for an optional evening walk.

Day 05:

Your final sauna is a landmark: Löyly. Named one of the 100 greatest places in the world by The Times, it combines bold architecture with traditional smoke sauna rituals and sea views.

Spend the rest of the morning exploring Helsinki. Private transport will take you to the airport when needed.
